IIT Innovation Hub

Overview

The IIT Innovation Hub is conceived as a machine for collaboration. The building's organizing principle is the "forum" — a multi-level atrium with cascading terraces that serves as the intellectual heart of the facility.<br><br>Laboratories, workshops, and faculty offices are arranged around this central space, connected by a network of bridges and staircases that maximize chance encounters. Movable glass walls allow spaces to be reconfigured for everything from intimate meetings to large-scale symposiums.<br><br>The building incorporates advanced passive design strategies: a solar chimney drives natural ventilation through the atrium, while the north-facing sawtooth roof brings diffuse daylight deep into the plan.
